Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is a group of actors, as is she, herself pursuing both careers. At nine years of age she made her feature film debut in the role of Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She played the leading role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) and appeared as part of Michele Soavi's 1989 movie The Church. In 1989, she was Nanni Moretti's (also directed) daughter in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was where Asia's career took off. After playing the role of young girl roles, she went on to play more complex and mature characters. Cannes International Film Festival was a huge movie's success. The Phantom of The Opera is her third film together with her dad. Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome were her first two. The Phantom of the Opera is the third time she has collaborated with her father. The others are Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a nozze demonstrated Asia's intense way that she exhibited in her acting. She appeared as Arianna in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista, a role so complex that she won the David di Donatello award for best actress. Also, she was a part of the performance in the international ensemble of Queen Margot produced by Patrice Chereau. In 1995, she collaborated with Michel Piccoli in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion , which again won her a David di Donatello and the Grolla d'oro. Asia took up directing as an occupation in the year 1994. Her debut short film was Prospettive. The documentary she wrote about her father was followed by Abel/Asia (1998) which was a movie which won an award at the Rome Film Festival in 1998. They were both directed from 1996 to 1998. The year 1999 was the year that Asia began her film-directing career by directing Scarlet Diva (2000), in which she was the main actress and writer for the script. In May 2000, the movie was made available both in Italy and around the globe. The film was awarded a prize at the Williamsburg International Film Festival, Brooklyn. Anna Lou, her first baby, was born to her in the year 2001. She directed a number of music videos. She appeared in 2002 involved in The Red Siren directed by Olivier Megaton and starred alongside Jean-Marc Barr. Rob Cohen also directed the action-packed thriller with Vin Diesel. Asia's short stories have also been published in some of the most prestigious magazines.
